mmWave Spectrum with very limited coverage is being deployed as 5G Capacity layer. As user traffic continues to grow rapidly, today's largely macro cell networks will evolve into dense and ultra-dense Heterogeneous networks. Soon, these Ultra Dense Heterogeneous Networks are expected to cover both indoor and outdoor areas in most of the Urban centers.

Infrastructure hosting antennas may include, Towers, streetlights, traffic lights, utility poles and, in some locations even street furniture like kiosks, Dustbins and Manholes. Indoor antennas will be placed within 10m of each other costing a fortune to deploy.

With an ultra-low latency (>10ms) and seamless handoff's between licensed and unlicensed spectrums these networks should be designed to maximize User QoE. At the same time, to minimize TCO, networks needs to be shared between multiple types of users with varied requirement of latency, throughput and availability.

I will be presenting what are the different components of a typical 5G Fixed or Mobile deployment and how different components are getting virtualized. I will also be presenting some of the challenges we are facing from a 5G RAN deployment standpoint our experiences with carriers.
