In this presentation we'll present the Open Mobile Evolved Core (OMEC) operating in a containerized and dynamically orchestrated environment under Kubernetes (K8s).  We'll show how we address some K8s related challenges to support multiple network interfaces per POD through the use of plug-in for K8s Container Network Interface (CNI), as well as achieving near bare-metal performance through the use of Enhanced Platform Awareness features enabling CPU core pinning and isolation, huge pages and high I/O throughput with SR/IOV based interfaces. Additionally we'll describe our custom K8s operator enabling automating scaling, life-cycle management and complete streamlining of the deployment process, as well as showing use of additional opensource tools to facilitate custom scaling.
