Abstract
For 5G to reach its promised potential, core network elements network must evolve from proprietary, single-sourced networks to open, disaggregated and software-centric networks to support the increasing requirements for mission critical, ultra-low-latency applications. The Radio Access Network (RAN) is now undergoing this fundamental transformation with the emergence of Open RAN.
Disaggregation is critical to the Open RAN evolution, enabling mobile operators to truly open up within the Radio Access Network and leverage solutions from multiple vendors, thereby breaking vendor lock-in, reducing costs, while using best-of-breed components that meet their specific network requirements. As mobile operators build-out their new 5G networks, the move to an Open RAN architecture becomes more urgent.

During this presentation, attendees will learn about:
• Open telecom standards and Open RAN architectures from ONF, the O-RAN Alliance and the Telecom Infra Project are delivering the disaggregated access solutions required for 5G success
• Synergies between these open ecosystems, and how leveraging open source hardware and software allows operators to avoid vendor lock-in and reduce costs
• Specific use cases that are ripe for Open RAN innovation
• The roles and responsibilities of systems integrators to bring all of the components together and deliver turnkey open telecom solutions while still overcoming the interoperability challenges in a multi-vendor ecosystem
•    Lessons learned from mobile operators that are beginning to take Open RAN from the initial concept phase to trials and commercialization
