An audience member kicked off a lively discussion at last year's ONF Connect, asking about status of truly open ROADMs. Were any manufacturers providing these? Are there open hardware designs available to third parties? Are they ready for production deployments? In this talk, we present ROADM designs developed at CESNET, including their YANG models and the NETCONF software stack. We have built these ROADMs in a lab from commercially available components, and we would like others to start building them as well.
