Stratum's Phal Attribute DB: What Is It Good For?

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The PHal Attribute DB is an important part of Stratum, providing a single, abstracted and cached view of vital platform configuration, status and metric information.

This presentation will walk through the recently added PHal Attribute DB functionality from the developer's point of view (i.e. how do you write a config file for your platform) with code snippets and a demo.

The following agenda topics will be covered: The PHal architecture (incl attribute DB): Recap how PHal is implemented on the ONLP OS; Describe the attribute DB and how caching policies work; How do the datasources work; The role of the configurator and how it wires the datasources into the attribute DB. PhalDB initialisation file: What is it used for? Detail the PhalDB config file schema (i.e. phal.proto); What happens if you don’t specify a phal db init file. Walk through some examples: basic configuration; specifying ONLP IDs; specifying caching policy; Time permitting might do some demos.
